此钱币正面中心位置铸“一圓”字样，上方铸有一代表日本皇室的十六瓣八重表菊纹徽章，左右两边伴以樱菊花枝，花蕊花蕾清晰可辨，枝脚交叉成蝴蝶结状，具有浓郁的东瀛特色，背面中心位置有龙吐火球图案，印证了日本文化之“火成”说，又寓意“日”之生成。环铸“大日本明治八年”以及英文介绍。双龙张牙，怒目而对，磷须可现，双尾相盘，栩栩如生。日本明治八年龙洋银币极为罕见，非机缘所不能得，故具有极高的收藏价值。
